What is internal medicine?
Internal Medicine is a medical specialty dedicated to the comprehensive care of sick adults, focused on the diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of diseases that affect internal organs and systems, and their prevention.
What does an Internist Doctor do?
It is the person in charge of caring for a patient who does not require surgical intervention. They gather the functions of several specialists; in this way it is avoided that a patient overlaps several treatments and for these to be harmful to them.
They are also in charge of detecting possible common diseases, recommending specific healthy lifestyle habits according to the patient, offering treatment to patients with different pathologies, analytical or radiological studies, and monitoring of patients with systemic diseases.
